This edition of the Contest has the local cuisine as the main topic and is open to the participation of students and professionals under 28 years old living in Catalonia. The winner of the 33rd Catalonia Young Cooking Contest will represent Catalonia in the final phase of the European Young Chef Award, which will be held in Greece in October 2019.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Catalonia Young Cooking Contest and the Gastronomy University Meeting are the culinary contest and the gastronomic academic event with the longest trajectory celebrated uninterruptedly in Catalonia.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"In 2010 they received the first Michelin Star for Dos Cielos<\/em> restaurant in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bin 2018 they added the second star and they have just renewed the two stars in the Michelin Guide 2019<\/strong> with the new restaurant Cocina Hermanos Torres<\/a> in Barcelona. These are the chefs Javier and Sergio Torres<\/strong>, invited to chair the Catalonia Young Cooking Contest that will celebrate its 33rd edition on May 8th in the facilities of the Hotel-School of Sant Pol de Mar.<\/p>\n

The Catalonia Young Cooking Contest<\/strong><\/a> is open to the participation of students and professionals under 28 years of age residing in Catalonia and its main topic is the local cuisine.<\/strong> Under this umbrella, the contestants must prepare a recipe proposal that will be valued by a jury chaired by the chefs Javier and Sergio Torres and integrated by representatives of PRODECA – Generalitat de Catalunya; of the Catalan Academy of Gastronomy and Nutrition; of the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism; of the University of Girona and the Hotel-School of Sant Pol de Mar, as well as gastronomic journalists.<\/p>\n

The winner of the competition will represent Catalonia in the final phase of the <\/strong>European Young Chef Award (EYCA),<\/a><\/strong> which will be held on the 22nd<\/sup> and 23rd<\/sup> October 2019 in Greece, in the South Aegean region. The participation of the winner in the European EYCA final is driven by PRODECA and the Ag\u00e8ncia Catalana de Turisme<\/em>, as members of the European Regions of Gastronomy<\/a> platform.<\/p>\n

The current edition of the Catalonia Young Cooking Contest and the Gastronomy University Meeting will pay homage to Professor Juli\u00e1n Mart\u00ednez<\/strong>, Head of the Cooking Department of the University School of Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts of Sant Pol de Mar (EUHT StPOL) from 1984 to the 2016, that passed away last January. In memory and tribute, the Absolute Prize of the Catalonia Young Cooking Contest 2019 will be named after him.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The inscriptions to participate in the Contest can be formalized until April 25th<\/sup><\/strong> according to the bases published on the website www.concurscuinajove.cat<\/a><\/p>\n

This is the 33rd edition of the Catalonia Young Cooking Contest and the 40th edition of the Gastronomy University Meeting of the Hotel-School of Sant Pol de Mar, two of the most long-lasting cuisine and gastronomy events held in Catalonia. In previous editions, the jury of the Contest was chaired by chefs such as Oriol Castro, Nando Jubany, Mauro Colagreco, Albert Adri\u00e0 and Massimo Bottura,<\/strong> among others. In addition to chairing the jury, the chefs Javier and Sergio Torres will finish the day with a cooking demonstration for the attendees. <\/strong><\/p>\n
