Furthermore, in light of the current energy crisis and the global climate emergency, it is critical to take strategic measures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And hence the slogan, &#8216;Rethinking tourism&#8217;, just when the sector begins to leave the harmful effects of the pandemic behind:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 in every 10 people work in the sector<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Almost half of the pre-pandemic global arrivals have been recovered<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With these positive indicators, the challenge is to achieve sustainable growth based on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oneplanetnetwork.org\/programmes\/sustainable-tourism\/glasgow-declaration\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Glasgow Declaration<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the 2030 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwto.org\/tourism4sdgs\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;58163&#8243; img_size=&#8221;720&#215;405&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hotel industry is a major source of employment and economic income, but it is also one of the most energy-intensive. This is where the HES (Hotel Energy Solutions) project was born, which <\/span><b>provides information, technical support, and training to help SMEs <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">based in the EU increase their energy efficiency and use of renewable energies.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">adapting businesses to changing climate conditions<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mitigating greenhouse gas emissions<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">supporting investments in energy efficiency and renewable technologies.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In opposition to bigger hotel chains, SMEs use outdated technologies, they lack major human and financial resources, and their limited awareness and knowledge of green alternatives directly affect their <\/span><b>competitiveness<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Therefore, HES aims to bridge the gap between available green technologies and their actual use.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;58182&#8243; img_size=&#8221;720&#215;405&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4><b>The Hotel Energy Toolkit<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hes-unwto.org\/hes_4\/microsite\/index.php?LangID=1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This free online tool<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a guide to reducing hotels&#8217; carbon footprint and operating costs. Essentially, it generates a report that assesses energy consumption and suggests more efficient technologies. It does so using an investment return calculator, which allows you to estimate the savings you could make by <\/span><b>measuring consumption and comparing it to other similar hotels<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You can monitor energy consumption over time by creating an account, which also allows you to observe seasonal changes and provides a section with practical resources, such as manuals and guidelines to train workers.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the EUHT StPOL\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/santpol.edu.es\/master-in-hospitality-management-online\/\"><b>Master in Hospitality Management<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we address the contents in a cross-disciplinary manner, including asset management, finance, and CSR, three areas that are closely related to implementing an energy efficiency strategy.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=&#8221;Master in Hospitality Management&#8221;
