5 June, 2024On 5 June 2024, The50BestRestaurants awards ceremony was held in the city of Las Vegas, United States. Every year, personalities from the gastronomic sector, such as the best chefs in the world and icons of the hospitality sector from around the world, gather together. This year the list of the best restaurants in the world was headed by the Disfrutar restaurant in Barcelona, owned by chefs Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas.
This year, the top 10 of the best restaurants in the world had a large Spanish presence. Following Disfrutar's victory was Asador Etxebarri, located in Atxondo (Basque Country). The third position is occupied by the Parisian restaurant Table, and in fourth position we find DiverXO, of Dabiz Muñoz.
The origin of the best restaurant in the world 2024
Disfrutar was founded in 2014 by chefs Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas, who met at Ferran Adrià's elBulli restaurant. His style of cooking is "clearly avant-garde", with a "markedly Mediterranean personality" and "daring, fun and modern cuisine in search of 'taste' as its main premise".
The now #1 in the world is located in Barcelona's Eixample, one of the most central areas of Barcelona. The design of the premises is clearly Mediterranean, cosy and Barcelona-inspired, specifically in the aesthetics of Miró, the 'Mercat del Ninot' which is right in front of the establishment and also in the fishing villages. It is a welcoming place, with a friendly service and characterised by a creative cuisine designed for customers to enjoy, as its name suggests, and for them to live an incredible gastronomic experience.
